Job summary:

RAN-I, within the Product Development Group (PDG) 4G&5G, is the new Incubator unit where we make brilliant new ideas grow into products. We have the responsibility for driving management and orchestration through ONAP open source contributions into the 5G future.

We are now looking for a Principal Developer Open Source Automation Platforms to work within our 5G RAN Explorer Program. In this role, you will closely collaborate with the ONAP Open Source Technical Coordinator as well as the Product Owner, Product Managers, RAN-I Leadership and several Development Teams to secure efficient integration of the ONAP platform with the radio nodes and raise Ericsson’s profile in the ONAP open source community. As a Principal Developer you will lead code contributions, including hands-on coding and code reviews from you personally, while being a key player in the architecture and future functionality negotiation. You will provide a role model as well as mentoring for other developers involved in the ONAP project, both internal and external to Ericsson, regarding ways of working in open source communities.

ain responsibilities:

You will be required to define and propose scope for the technical open source contributions to ONAP and coordinate with teams using the platform internally;
Provide the team with technical leadership insight and guide contributions by coordinating with relevant TA studies and scanning for not yet identified SP/OA-equivalent problems;
Set and communicate the goals, coach and lead team to achieve the goals;
Identify improvements to ways-of-working together with the sub-project manager and lead open source contributors;
Manage a large variety of stakeholders.

Key qualifications:

A minimum of 4 years of involvement and code contributions in a global open source project. Leading contributions in a project within the Linux Foundation framework constitutes an advantage;
At least 10 years of experience in software development for management systems, alternately a mix of development and operations. Experience in both telecommunications and web-scale enterprise systems would be an advantage;
Strong technical competence in software development for O&M, ideally both from a radio node and NMS/OSS perspective. Several years of experience in programming and troubleshooting large applications in Java with the Spring framework and microservices, including reactive programming pattern;
Proven technical experience as a leader with focus on SW architecture, agile methods and continuous integration;
Experience in standardization or contributions to open source projects, ideally both in technical coordinator and individual contributor roles;
Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as Openstack and Kubernetes with hands-on abilities to interact with them for administration, troubleshooting and operations;
Capabilities to write and review code in several languages (such as Python, Golang in addition to Java, as well as Bash scripting and Ansible templating) are an advantage;
