VACANCY
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique scientific instruments. Every year, the Institute hosts over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to carry out world-class research in solid-state physics, crystallography, soft matter, biology, chemistry and fundamental physics. The "Projects and Techniques Division", which is responsible for the development of the ILL's instruments and for technical support, currently has a vacancy within the IT service for a:

Junior Software Developer (M/F)

You will be part of the European project PaNOSC = Photon and Neutron Open Science Cloud. This project brings together six major world-class European research infrastructures to create a fully integrated, pan-European, information and analysis infrastructure supporting the scientific process.

Duties:
Your principle duties will be to:
- develop websites and web application user interfaces
- implement server-side code with other developers
- create user experiences on projects by using the latest web UI technologies.

Qualifications and experience:
- You have experience with:
- JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript and with using frameworks such as React and Angular.
- the latest browser APIs and standards
- working with APIs and modern tools, such as GIT, build tools, testing frameworks and continuous integration
- software design principles
- using the command line; systems administration experience would also be appreciated (docker, virtualisation etc.).

- You have excellent communication skills and are a good team player. You enjoy learning, have a passion for building great user experiences and a keen eye for detail.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Notes:
This a "specified-purpose" fixed-term contract for 36 months.
Medical fitness for work under ionising radiation is required.
