C# Developer - Blocket Fordon Pitcrew

Hi!

My name is Niclas and I’m an engineering manager at Blocket Fordon. We’re currently looking to expand our tight knit team of developers with more talents.

Our team is building web applications and systems used daily by the majority of Sweden’s vehicle dealers as well as developing one of the largest marketplaces for buying and selling vehicles in Sweden.

Tech stack
Our team is at the forefront of Blockets technical transition to a micro service architecture, with all of our current systems running as decoupled services in Docker containers.

We use C#, Python, Javascript and Go for our services with frameworks such as .NET Core and Flask for backend services and modern Javascript frameworks such as React, Redux and Webpack for building frontend applications, communicating via REST and GraphQL APIs.

We use a multitude of software to keep our ecosystem pumping, such as Postgres, MySQL and Redis for storage, RabbitMQ as our message bus and rely on Elasticsearch as a base for all our search APIs. We do this using a modern CI/CD pipeline based on Git and Jenkins.

We’re currently moving our production environment to AWS and the next step for our infrastructure is to move our container orchestration from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes and possibly Amazon EKS.

Relevant experience
For this position, we’re looking for a C# developer who knows his or her way around the .NET Core libraries and is used to developing both long running worker processes as well as web applications and APIs using .NET Core MVC.

Previous work experience in AWS, Docker or a micro service architecture is highly desirable. A relevant education, years of self-reflected experience and knowledge of our tech stack will be duly considered assets during the selection process.

Who am I as a manager
I recently took on the role as a manager, coming from the developer team myself. Nowadays I put my focus on supporting my team members through coaching and removing any hindrances. I trust the team to make the technical decisions that make the most sense for the task at hand, while still joining discussions and sharing experiences whenever I get an opportunity.
