Navico is the global leader in recreational marine electronics and a growing presence in the commercial marine sector.
In Gothenburg the R&D team is currently a small team with only a few people.
We aim to grow the R&D team over time in the near future. Our ambition is to keep the Gothenburg R&D team within software and try to make the more innovation driven projects within boat software. A little bit more complex but also easier to use is the ambition. Even though the focus is software we are working closely with the hardware teams.

The software / systems developer role is someone who is working with software development and software design in one of our development teams.

The three major areas we are working with are backend, apps and onboard control and integration.

The current technologies are Node.js with TypeScript and SQL, Android and IOS with React Native and embedded development with Android and Kotlin.
Depending on your role you’ll work tightly with the design team to collaborate on how to deliver the best user experience.

We are looking for you who enjoy software development and who, in the shower, can’t stop thinking about why yesterdays’ build failed even though nothing has changed.

You already know a few of these languages;

• Typescript
• Kotlin
• Java
• C, C++/Qt
• Python
Good knowledge of either backend or Android is highly valued and if you add some boat interest or experience, you’ll be on top of the list.

You most likely have a bachelor or master’s degree in software engineering or similar

About Navico in Gothenburg
In the past the Gothenburg team have been doing full systems for navigation and controlling the boat (have a look at yachtdefined.com) but we are now moving to focus more on the integration between onboard devices to unify the boating experience.

We have offices in Gothenburg with a maker space, gym, espresso machine, ball pit, and beer fridge. The essential needs. The culture we strive for is a maker mentality and start-up atmosphere.

As a developer or designer at Navico you must be able to create your own ideas, take decisions and manage your own time. The working hours are flexible, but you are expected to be at the office most of your working hours for spontaneous meetings and questions.
