Do you want to be part of building up, developing and coordinating a technical team within the navigation sector?

Navico is the global leader in recreational marine electronics and a growing presence in the commercial marine sector.
In Gothenburg the R&D team is currently a small team with only a few people.
We aim to grow the R&D team over time in the near future. Our ambition is to keep the Gothenburg R&D team within software and try to make the more innovation driven projects within boat software. A little bit more complex but also easier to use is the ambition. Even though the focus is software we are working closely with the hardware teams.

As technical lead at Navico you’ll both do software development work and coordinate day to day activities within the team. You’ll coordinate the efforts to make architectural choices for the products and suggest or decide on choices. You’ll likely take the role as scrum master and also take a smaller role in the recruitment work and other managerial tasks.

Understanding of software and network architecture and protocols is a must, as is a good understanding of computer security, testing, deployment and continuous integration.

If you are the person we are looking for, you’d be able to write this requirement list yourself.

We think you:

• Have a bachelor or master’s degree in software engineering or similar and,
• You have worked in a similar role for at least a few years and would like to continue doing that or
• You’ll have many years’ experience as a developer and would like to take a step towards a leadership position, or
• You have been working as a manager for some time and would really like to get back to the technical side.
About Navico in Gothenburg
In the past the Gothenburg team have been doing full systems for navigation and controlling the boat (have a look at yachtdefined.com) but we are now moving to focus more on the integration between onboard devices to unify the boating experience.

We have offices in Gothenburg with a maker space, gym, espresso machine, ball pit, and beer fridge. The essential needs. The culture we strive for is a maker mentality and start-up atmosphere.

As a developer or designer at Navico you must be able to create your own ideas, take decisions and manage your own time. The working hours are flexible, but you are expected to be at the office most of your working hours for spontaneous meetings and questions.
