The Technology function within Volvo Group Connected Solutions is accountable for the development, delivery and operation of the complete off-board connected solutions platform(s) including shared framework and common solutions/services. Within Technology, the Supporting Services section delivers and maintains platform services such as Organization Services (functionality to provide an organizational context to services) and Service Management (framework for handling vehicle configuration for the required services). We are spread over two sites; one in Lindholmen and one in Bangalore, India.

We are proud to say that we are using the latest Java technologies delivering a very modern microservice based service platform hosted in the cloud. Of course, we use agile development methods and we are organized into domain teams with DevOps responsibility in each team. We work in 2-week sprints and in 10-week SAFe train increments.

About the position

As Senior Architect in the Supporting Services area you are responsible for driving the architectural roadmap for our microservices platform as well as providing continuous support to our delivery organization. We do not only develop on-request, but also help stakeholders to identify the optimal solution concept. You coordinate between architects in the domain teams, both inside Supporting Services and in collaboration with other units. As a member of the Supporting Services Management Team you take lead in addressing and highlighting overall architectural issues in the MT. There will also be opportunities to travel, since one of the groups is in Bangalore, India.

Key Responsibilities
•Responsible for continuous update of target architecture of the Supporting Services part of our microservices platform
•Coordinate between architects in the domain teams, both inside Supporting Services and in collaboration with other units
•Support DevOps teams to execute on target and plans
•Support DevOps teams in critical deliveries – hands on architectural work, design and development
•Drive exploration of new technologies that have potential to improve our offer and our way of working
•Track and report progress in deliveries regarding fulfillment of target architecture
•Mentor projects, teams and team members
•Take the role as Architectural Reviewer of deliveries

Who are you?

As a person you are structured, target oriented and eager to deliver on time, cost and quality. You have a positive mindset and a business-oriented attitude, and understand the challenges of application development, quality assurance, deployment, operation and maintenance. You enjoy teamwork, contribute with team spirit and you like taking responsibility. You are able to keep a constructive and cooperative relation with stakeholders also at times when all demands cannot be met. You master the combination of being an experienced architect on a level where you can guide developers, and being an experienced leader on a level where you contribute strategically in a management team.

Qualifications
•A university degree in software engineering, computer science or similar
•A solid experience as Software Architect
•Experience from software engineering and agile development, including release procedures
•Experience from service operation and support
•Experience from automotive industry and preferably also telematics, connected vehicles
•Fluent in English - both written and spoken
