MittMedia is a media group with a local presence in a large part of Sweden, which has accepted the challenges of a media industry during a large and fast change. It’s important to find new ways to combine the strength of the journalistic content with the power of digital development. The organization produces journalism, but it includes also a digital development department and businesses for both business and private market. Together with a housing agency for marketing they are well equipped for the assignment.

With the help of their digital ecosystem, with platforms such as Reacher, Soldr and Aracua, they will solve today's and tomorrow's digital challenges. With the platforms they make it easy for customers to read the news.

MittMedia´s Digital Media Development has been around for five years and today about 30 employees work in the department. The department has over the years built a new platform for digital product development which has made them one of northern Sweden’s most progressive and innovative media companies. MittMedia offer you work within several different product environments, such as the development of web services like the online sites and mobile app development. At the development department they are working on developing the digital platforms. Based on data, they decide how to develop the products to give the readers the best user experience when they take part of the news.

Arbetsuppgifter:

In the role as a system developer you will work in a small team with five to seven members. The team are responsible for the development of all MittMedia’s news applications and sites. The teams work cross functional and take responsibility for every part of their own projects without having a separate maintenance or operations team, i.e. “You build it, you run it”.

The team works in Kanban with agile and lean methodology. Mob programming is used in particularly when the team are stuck with a very solid problem or want to spread knowledge within the team.

MittMedia’s sites are written in Ruby on Rails in use with PostgreSQL, Redis and RabbitMQ. The news apps are written in React Native, a platform for building native Androids and iOS apps using JavaScript. Backend is written in Ruby on Rails and uses PostgreSQL, Redis and RabbitMQ amongst other technologies. Beyond that, you will be involved in running all cloud solutions.

Profil:

• Higher education in computer technology or web education is an advantage
• You have a great technical interest
• You managed JavaScript and HTML
• If you have previous experiences with web development it´s a merit

In order to succeed in the role as system developer at MittMedia's development department, you need to have good ability to cooperate with others. In a team of few members, you have an important place. You have a commitment and interest that makes you look for new challenges and want to do new things. Your ability to take responsibility together with your sense of quality will make you succeed.
