About the team

Core Product Technology (CPT) is a global team responsible for the end-to-end eBay product experience and technology platform. In addition, we are working on the strategy and execution of our payments initiative, transforming payments management on our Marketplace platform which will significantly improve the overall customer experience.

The eBay office in Malmo, Sweden, is a center of excellence in working with massive data challenges that require innovative AI, machine learning and software engineering approaches to solve successfully in a scalable ways.

The team in Sweden is specialized in transforming massive unstructured data sets in multiple natural languages into structured form. The work is done in collaboration with other eBay groups in different parts of the world. The daily work is more towards ”start-up style” than a large multi-national corporation. By keeping the local organization small, we gain maximum flexibility and agility at the same time as having access to extensive resources for the work at hand.

 

Skills & requirements

Responsibilities and duties

• Data acquisition from large-scale data warehouse (Hadoop/HDFS, SQL, Hive)
• Design and development of data provisioning solutions
• Analyze and present insights in data using data science and/or statistical methods
• Transformations and pre-processing of data (ETL)
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal partners, software developers to provide data and supporting tools/services that meet specifications

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• Good knowledge and experience of Python or Go software development
• Experience in working with databases using SQL
• Documented experience in data analysis
• Practical experience in using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Kafka and Spark.
