We have an offer you can't refuse!The challenge aheadDesign, build, and maintain APIs, and servicesDebug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stackWork with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scaleImprove engineering standards, tooling, and processesIAM (Identity and Access Management)Commerce (e.g. signup, backend purchase flows, payment meta-data such as pricing etc)What we are looking forThe team consists of 6 - 8 engineers working mostly in Java, with some Python and JavaScript. As a Backend Engineer, you will be an important contributor in expanding our APIs and building (micro)services in our platform. We’re looking for people with strong background or interest in building successful products, you’re comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces, and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and tools.Successful candidates also meet the following requirements:Enjoy and have solid experience in building APIsThrive in a collaborative environment, reviewing code and being open to feedbackActively takes ownership and responsibility of high quality codeKnows the right balance between elegant solutions and time-to-marketExperience and understanding of full software development life-cycleRelevant professional experience, we're looking for a senior (7+ years) team memberYou might work onBuilding a new API, or iterate on existing APIs using Java, Protobuf, REST, HATEOASBuilding supporting tools for our services aiding tech operations and on-call teamsIdentifying and improving parts of the services to make them more robust, resilient and scalableMaintaining and expanding our documentation about services and the platformDeploy services in Amazon AWS and monitor rollouts and everyday service behaviour using Splunk, Grafana and AWS toolsRunning services on your local machine using Docker for some serious testing sessionsIdentifying, improving and implementing service metrics using PrometheusDigging into requirements and service dependencies involving different stakeholders and subject matter expertsGoing bananas trying out some new cool programming language, technology, tool or framework during our recurring Viaplay Hack DaysWe want to hear from youOur HQ is in Stockholm, but our market is the Nordics.
