The Intelligent Machine Platforms department is a division of Automation and Connected Solutions at Volvo CE. We design the solutions of the future including teleoperated and autonomous machines with the purpose of making them more efficient and environmentally friendly. We also create apps on our own Android tablet called Co-Pilot in the purpose of coaching and assisting our machine operators.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are currently looking for an embedded software specialist and we are eager to get to know an enthusiastic and devoted engineer. You will be responsible for the design and development of software solutions for our autonomous machine platform. The job requires a deep understanding of embedded software development processes, item life cycles and tools. You will participate in defining and designing our automation platform, including setting requirements and supporting in the allocation of software functionality. You will also be in dialogue with various potential and current suppliers of software solutions.

The role also includes participating in continuous improvement of our ways of working and you will be encouraged to dream big, dare to fail, innovate and always invest time in personal development.

In our department we have an agile setup and we really support each other, so getting into our work is easy. You will join or support a Scrum team and collaborate with other teams on a daily basis, making sure to deliver a great product.

WHO ARE YOU?
You are a senior engineer, maybe even a PhD, with proven and recognized specialist knowledge in embedded software development processes, item life cycle management and tools. You might have a background in embedded C (C/C++) programming and Python. You have RTOS experience and have knowledge in both Windows and Unix-based operating systems such as Linux. It is a bonus if you have worked with IOT communication or other communication protocols, but definitely no show-stopper if you have not.

You are used to working in a high pace environment, leading teams and taking decisions in architecture and system requirement related questions. You are also passionate about teaching others, sharing you knowledge, and providing guidance to your colleagues. You are familiar with and positive towards agile ways of working in general and Scrum in particular.

You definitely have a techie mindset and maybe experience from the automotive industry or similar. This is not a requirement however, and we would be equally excited if you have a telecom, network industry or IT background since this could really complement our team.

You are an open and creative person with a can-do attitude. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, and you either speak Swedish or are eager to learn a new language. In any case, you love being part of a dynamic, multicultural and fun team so you will fit right in!
