Senior Developer to Query Processing Group

Starcounter is dedicated to providing the world's highest performing enterprise database management system. It combines an application server and an in-memory database engine for the ultra-fast development of high performance business applications. Our development team ranges from PhDs in computer science to self-taught whiz kids.

We are looking for a talented and experienced developer to join our query processing group. The main responsibility is to develop and maintain query processor, which is a highly complex component of the Starcounter DBMS. The complexity of the system requires highly maintainable and extensible implementation through the use of modern development methodologies.

The query processing group is responsible for query language specification and parsing, complex query optimisation, and efficient query execution in terms of kernel API with returning results to hosting environment. Tasks include interacting with different groups at Starcounter, utilising and coupling technologies from multiple computer science areas, and developing and maintaining a highly complex system.

Required skills:
- Excellent C++ development skills (6+ years), including latest standards
- Knowledge and experience in modern programming paradigms including functional and OOP
- Experience in developing complex software system or component
- Comfortable with cross-platform development (Windows, Linux, OSX, Free BSD)
- Experience with .NET development
- Experience in using databases and SQL in high-load applications
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to learn quickly and easily
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Desired skills:
- Proficient in algorithms and data structures
- Knowledge in parsing technologies, especially Bison
- Experience with query optimization
- Experience with formal logic, calculus or algebra
- Background in mathematics, especially discrete mathematics and set theory
- Experience with graph databases and SparQL
- Low lever programming and Assembly language
