Job Description

At Videoplaza we strongly believe in a devops model where all teams are responsible for the full lifecycle of the product services they develop. The Platform team is what makes this model possible in a demanding reality with business critical services deployed across hundreds of servers in multiple geographies. The team's mission is to provide our product engineering teams with the best possible tooling and platforms for building, operating and managing our amazing products.

To accomplish this, the team develops and operates a set of core platform services and tools for areas like continuous integration & deployment, service discovery & configuration as well as monitoring and alerting. The team also works closely with our Systems Infrastructure team to ensure we have sufficient scalability, redundancy and resilience in the platform.

Key responsibilities

Researching, selecting and extending the right frameworks, tools and technologies for Videoplaza's core platform

Continuously improving and re-engineering the platform architecture to handle our rapidly growing traffic (our platform currently delivers around 1.5 billion video ads per month and traffic is growing rapidly)

Designing and implementing clean APIs and protocols for other teams to build features on top of

Troubleshooting and resolving critical issues with the platform

Guiding and supporting product engineering teams in making full use of the platforms and tools the team provides

Extensive experience of working with modern, high performance enterprise level applications running on the JVM in Linux environments

Strong server side Java knowledge, including commonly used libs, utils etc

Experience of, and a passion for, automation, scaling/tuning, monitoring and operational aspects of the software lifecycle (preferably in a Debian-flavored linux environment)

Experience of modern data storage alternatives such as Cassandra, Riak, MongoDB and the Hadoop ecosystem as well as relational DBs (e.g. MySQL)

Passion for communication and collaborationIn addition, specific experience of one or more of the following tools and frameworks is considered a bonus:Dropwizard (or Java based SOA with REST in general)

• Ansible
• HAProxy
• Maven + Jenkins
• Zookeeper
