Release Engineer

At Storytel we believe that powerful stories add an extra dimension to life. We offer hundreds of thousands of audiobooks and ebooks to customers in 17 markets, with several new markets launching in the coming year. Storytel is Northern Europe's largest audiobook streaming service and we are looking for talented and driven tester to join our team and help build a service that hundreds of thousands of people use every day to consume books.

Where?

We have our headquarters on Riddarholmen and Slussen in Stockholm but our teams are distributed geographically between Stockholm, Umeå, Lund, Karlstad and Copenhagen. We are primarily looking for this position in Stockholm, but working from our other tech offices is also possible.

About the role

As a Release Engineer at Storytel you will work with experienced testers and developers across a wide field of technologies. Our team works with Mobile apps development, Backend development, Web development, DevOps and more. We are a quality-focused organization that encourages everybody regardless of the role to test our products as well as formal testers that enhance the organic testing efforts.

We are looking for individuals that are interested in learning and have an interest in sharing their knowledge. We have a strong sharing culture at Storytel and try to nurture creativity.

What will you do?

- Work on our Continuous Integration pipeline (CircleCI) for our core apps (Android and iOS) and improve the release process
- Be a key part of the release group and help improve our app release strategy
- You will find, document and report bugs
- Work closely together with app developers, testers and product owners
- Being a bridge between development teams, product owners and other departments

Your Qualifications

You are an Engineer with a few years of hands-on experience. It is important that you think it is fun to grow and learn, both as a person and with our team. You love to automate processes and care for a high quality product. You speak and write English fluently. We work using agile methodologies in small and efficient teams that you will be an important part of.

- Existing experience working with Continuous Integration tools (for example, CircleCI, VSO, Travis, Google Cloud Build)
- Existing experience with building both iOS and Android native apps
- Experience with Apple App Store and Google Play Store and their endpoints
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in an Agile environment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently

Beneficial experience

- You have existing hands on experience with CircleCI
- You have some familiarity with other app stores and their ecosystems
- You have a programming background and know how to code Java and/or C#
- You have experience in developing iOS or Android apps and are comfortable helping with troubleshooting, reading logs and similar
- Knowledge in Fastlane and it’s tools, as weel as Carthage dependency management
- You have some know-how on how to distribute and automate releases of app-libraries to be used in apps
- You have experience with Continuous Deployment tools like Spinnaker, ArgoCD or Drone.io
- You’re comfortable in Linux environments, Docker and Kubernetes
