Android Developer

At Storytel we believe that powerful stories add an extra dimension to life. We offer hundreds of thousands of audiobooks and ebooks to customers in 17 markets, with several new markets launching in the coming year. Storytel is Northern Europe's largest audiobook streaming service and we are looking for talented and driven Android Developer to join our team and help build a service that hundreds of thousands of people use every day to consume books.

About the role

As an Android Developer at Storytel you will work with experienced developers and testers across a wide field of technologies. Our teams work with Mobile apps development, Backend development, Web development, DevOps and more. We are a quality-focused organization that encourages everybody regardless of the role to test our products as well as formal testers that enhance the organic testing efforts.

We are looking for individuals that are interested in learning and have an interest in sharing their knowledge. We have a strong sharing culture at Storytel and try to nurture creativity.

We have our headquarters on Riddarholmen in Stockholm but our teams are distributed geographically between Stockholm, Umeå, Lund, Karlstad and Copenhagen. We are primarily looking for this position in Lund, but working from our other tech offices is also possible.

What will you do?

- Work on our core Android application
- Work on the latest android technologies and patterns to help bring new features
- Be a key part of the app group and help improve our app release strategy
- You will find, document and report bugs
- Work closely together with app developers, testers and product owners
- Being a bridge between development teams, product owners and other departments

Your Qualifications

You are a Software Developer with a few years of hands-on experience developing Android apps. It is important that you think it is fun to grow and learn, both as a person and with our team. You have a passion for Android ecosystem and care deeply about delivering a high quality product. You speak and write English fluently. We work using agile methodologies in small and efficient teams that you will be an important part of.

- Existing experience with developing Android native apps in both Java and Kotlin
- Experience with Android Jetpack including ViewModels, LiveData, LifecycleObservers etc
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in an Agile environment
- Ability to work independently and efficiently

Beneficial experience

- You have some know-how about releasing Android apps on how to distribute and automate releases of app-libraries to be used in apps
- Have knowledge of kotlin coroutines, RxJava or kotlins flow
- Have experience with Androids media player and Exoplayer
- You have existing hands-on experience with CircleCI or other continuous delivery tools
