You want to be a part of innovative teams striving to explore and form new ideas in communication technology and you enjoy working in a fast-paced international environment.This is what are we looking forWe are looking for an innovative expert to strengthen our radio access competence and specifically drive new 5G solutions forward in tight collaboration with international Sony R&D teams, including our corporate headquarters in Tokyo. We focus on wireless and mobile radio access technologies and the physical layer of the 5G new radio (NR) with a target to cover a large variety of use cases to support Sony delivering the next steps of creative entertainment.As a radio access researcher, you will more specifically evaluate and investigate future radio access technologies related to the standardization in 3GPP RAN WG1. You will be part of research and innovation activities related to the 5G radio access protocol and beyond, including e.g. aspects of energy efficient physical layer procedures for small data / IoT communication optimizations, NR unlicensed access, positioning technologies in mobile networks, MIMO and beamforming technologies. Radio access system level aspects and link level performance are key items within the role.What you will do from day to dayYou will focus on conducting research and standardization activities towards 5G mobile systems and beyond. The main objectives of these activities are to create intellectual property rights, drive 5G standardization forward and to provide system solutions for internal Sony projects. The person in this role will be part of writing and supporting 3GPP contributions with innovations, evaluations and simulation results.Specifically, you will·      Conduct research on radio access protocols targeting 3GPP RAN1 standardization and academic research.·      Contribute to 5G link and system simulator (C++, Matlab and Python).·      Create intellectual property rights towards standardization.·      Work in the Sony global standardization team.·      Efficiently communicate research findings through written reports and oral presentations for smaller groups and at larger events.Who are we?The Sony Research Center in Lund is the department of Sony in Lund where 30 experts in four research labs innovate, evaluate and standardize 5G, IoT and AI technologies and solutions. The Research Center members participate in research projects with partners and academia, contribute to 5G and IoT standardization in 3GPP and develop proof of concepts.Do you think this could be a match for you? Competences we are looking for·      You have a MSc or PhD degree in technology, specifically in the area of wireless communications.·      You have strong proven competence in mobile and wireless systems and have been working with wireless standardization.
