Multi Media designer/Developer

TSSG stands for "Telecommunications Software & Systems Group". The TSSG was formed as part of the Waterford Institute of Technology in 1996 by Dr. Willie Donnelly and Eamon deLeaster, with Barry Downes joining the promoters to create the Innovation and Commercialisation division in 2006. TSSG is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for ICT research and innovation. We carry out a wide spectrum of industry-informed research in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), particularly technologies enabling communications and information services.
Our four key prioritised technical Research areas include Mobile Platforms and Services, Security Privacy and Identity, Data Analytics and Social computing, Adaptive Networks and services. We create economic impact by translating our knowledge base and innovation into leading edge products and services by continuing our engagement with Industry in collaborative R&D, knowledge generation and transfer.

Full Job Description
The successful applicant for this role will work on a range of projects including graphic design and marketing concepts, mobile and web design and development. To be considered for this role you should have experience in a range of applications including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Good web development skills are essential - XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and proficiency in deploying websites using content management systems. A working good knowledge of standard usability processes is desirable.
-Work with common graphic and interface design tools
-Convert user requirements and mock-up designs into user interfaces
-Work in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple projects
-Understand and design for all accessibility levels
-Experience in web design and keep up to date in terms of trends and developments
-Work with the product manager, customers, users, team members and others to develop concepts and refine interfaces.
-Design user interfaces with consideration of colour, screen-flow, usability, user-efficiency, consistency of the user experience and professional appearance.
-Develop design documents and artifacts for software.
-Work with UI technologies - HTML, CSS, JS, etc.
-Experience in developing for content management systems - for example WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.
-Work on mobile application creation - experience in design/development for Android, iOS and web applications desirable.

Education/language/experience requirements
BSc or BA Multimedia or equivalent (Web or Mobile Applications Design or Development, Graphic Design, Communications or Computing).
