iOS Developer to SVT Play

Grooo has been commissioned to find an iOS Developer to SVTi who’s responsible for the development of SVT’s digital platforms. Here you will get the chance to be in the midst of the transformation from traditional television to the future of media consumption! 

To make a long story short

SVT is the national provider of public service within televisions with the aim of creating content that engages, maintains and enriches the public. By acting independently and with strong integrity in relation to economic, political or similar power spheres in society, and get a solid range of programs for everyone in Sweden. With great emphasis on working with confidence and transparency, public service holds a breadth with many different types of content. From Bolibompa for the smallest to cultural experiences from all of Sweden’s scenes, Melodifestivalen and sports broadcast that make the whole of Sweden keep its breath. Today, it is estimated that 9 out of 10 Swedes use SVT each week, where more and more people use digital services such as SVT Play or the mobile app. This entails an increased need for stabilization and delivery guarantee within the application.

The missing piece of the puzzle

Here you will be a part of SVT Play, which has changed the way you watch TV in Sweden. They’re delivering one of Swedens largest streaming services (together with Netflix and Youtube) and they now have millions of users every week. About a year ago, they launched a new iOS application and they’re therefor looking for an iOS Developer who’d like to be part of making the application easier to use and even more appreciated!

In this role, you’ll be working in an easy-moving process where the team is responsible for translating ideas and concepts into excellent user experiences. SVT Play works with hypothesis-driven development through, for example, use and a/b testing and design studios. You will be part of a cross-functional team together with other developers, UX/UI designers, and product owners.

The iOS application is fully developed in Swift with modern frameworks and API’s. You will be developing the application within everything from architecture design and business logic to interface animations and details.

In order to thrive in this position, you have been working with iOS development for a couple of years. You’re a person with a good ability to work close to your team and have a given love for technology. It’s important for you to build well-functioning applications and like the idea that you’re building something that’s being used by a large number of users.
