Data Engineer

We’re looking to hire a Data Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is inspired to use their talents to help us in our mission. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and leading the data initiatives at the company, aiming to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data.

Independently, and together with the others in the Platform team, you will deliver data as a service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decisions in the company. For example you will be providing validated data and the infrastructure to calculate key performance indicators to different stakeholders, while still and always keeping our users privacy and anonymity into your work.

We’re looking for someone whose soft skills shine! Engineers at Natural Cycles work with many different teams and you’ll work on projects with stakeholders across the organisation, such as R&D, Marketing and Finance. Driving initiatives, prioritising your work, and balancing feedback will all be a part of your day-to-day.

What you will be doing

Maintain and improve our data warehouse: improve data models, performance of views and reports, etc
Maintain and improve our data pipelines: integrate new sources, improve monitoring and performance, etc
Monitor, investigate and report data quality issues and data inconsistencies
Collaborate with stakeholders and other departments by providing dashboards and reports
Collaborate with data scientists by providing adequate raw data for their needs
Evaluate data tools and vendors and propose adequate solutions for our problems
Automate routine operations related to data
Always keeping our users privacy and anonymity into your work.

Some of the technologies and tools that we currently use, and that you’ll get to dig into, are Snowflake, Tableau, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Adjust, ELK, Grafana, Google Datastore, Google Cloud Storage, Google AppEngine & Kubernetes and CircleCI.

What skills and experience we think that you have

- A strong understanding of data infrastructure, SQL and deployment pipelines
- Experience of ETL, data pipelines (written in Node.js, Typescript and sometimes Python) and cloud based data warehouses e.g. Snowflake
- Good knowledge and interest in business intelligence/analyst tools e.g Tableau
- Great analytical skills to conduct root cause analysis and similar investigations
- You execute well on your own but thrive in cross functional teams
