What you will be a part of

The department Simulators, Training and Support (STS) is part of Saab Aeronautics' research and development organization. We develop simulators, rigs, and support systems for all product development phases (concept, marketing, development and validation). STS also develops its own products: training simulators for pilots and technicians. Within the STS department we have all the engineering knowledge required to design, develop, produce and deliver products, and to provide training for the products and systems.

STS works internationally, operating and maintaining large training facilities in Sweden and abroad. With our many years of experience we have acquired extensive competence in simulation engineering, and we have a unique role as a complete supplier throughout the product development cycle. We always work in close cooperation with the aircraft development and verification projects.

The section Operations Development Simulators currently has 19 employees with a variety of backgrounds and experience. The section is responsible for operations of development simulators used in the Gripen development. We are now in an expansive phase building up the technology and functions needed for the next generation's simulators. Most of the work is done in project or team form, where an open-minded atmosphere is a given. Competence development within ways of working and new technology is a natural and important part of the job.

Your role

As software developer you will be working with new development, bug fixing and integration of software functions in the development simulators supporting Gripen. This is a technical role, but large parts of the job include cooperation and contact with surrounding departments and development engineers. The role is adaptable, taking into account your previous experiences and areas of interest. In time you will acquire significant knowledge about the Gripen aircraft and its avionics system.

Your profile

You have good communication skills and the ability to translate requirements and requests into technical solutions. You are a team player, inquisitive and sociable. You can work both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.

You have:

- Good programming skills in for example C, Ada, Python or other script languages

- Good verbal communication skills in English and Swedish

- Good cooperation skills

It is an advantage if you have worked with any of the following:

- Unix, Linux

- Real time simulation and simulation systems

- QT (C++)

- Software support

Your personal characteristics and drive are very important to us and may outweigh pre-existing knowledge and experience.
