Cloud and Streaming Data Algorithm Designer

Volvo Car Group is aiming to take the lead within Highly Automated Driving. Entering the field of self-driving vehicles is the next giant leap in Volvo Car Group's development of the

world's safest cars. The Highly Automated Driving and Connected Safety development team at Volvo Car Group is dedicated to bringing self-driving cars to the market, starting with the Swedish project "Drive Me", which is intended to shift the current driving paradigm and take advantage of automation to promote sustainable, individual mobility.

The team is now in need of a motivated Cloud and Streaming Data Algorithm Designer, a position that is related to a new and expanding area in active safety and driver support. You will be a part of adding wireless information and cloud processing to active safety which represents a significant step. Our long-term vision of "making cars that do not crash" needs cloud connectivity in order to come true. Creating new solutions will require new thinking. The work environment is agile, challenging and dynamic and will offer new challenges in the area of automotive big data, and streaming data processing.

Main responsibilities

* Develop new cloud-resident algorithms/functions, intended to support active safety and driver support features running in vehicle.
* Most algorithm design for the cloud will be related to streaming data
* The projects are in advanced engineering and research phases, so your design will be executed in prototype environment, serving both virtual (simulated cars) as well as test fleets of 100 - 1000 vehicles

Required qualifications

* M.Sc. Computer science
* General programming skills, ie java, C++, etc
* Complex event processing/Streaming data tools, ie. Apache storm
* At least 3 years of work experience within a relevant area
* Driver's license B
* Experience from connected cloud active safety function development

Personal qualities

* Communication ability, especially regarding complex technical issues
* Good ability to work in a small, agile team
* Holistic understanding of the needs of the end customer
