We're a small but mighty team that has developed a state of the art platform used in one of the largest media networks in the world. Discovery’s Stockholm Engineering team shipped the core services of Discovery’s growing global streaming video platform. We are expanding and looking for a Software Engineering Manager that can facilitate ramping up of an existing team, or building a new one, in our fast-growing engineering department in Stockholm.
What you'll do
You will be involved in building highly scalable container-based platform services, and make sure that we have the right team, skill set, processes, and means of collaboration to do so. This will mean delegating both tasks and larger assignments to your team, and ensuring that the right results are achieved, and that those align with company priorities and processes, but also create new ones where needed.

You thrive in an environment where delivering a great technical product in every aspect is lived throughout the entire engineering team, and you are one of them inspiring to this mind-set in your team. Therefore, you are also comfortable teaching best practices by showing, not just telling people. You can also dive deep into a wide range of technical problems offering suggestions and feedback to your team.
Your preferred technical know-how
- Solid experience in system development using Java
- Knowledge of, and professional experience with most AWS services
- Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes
- Worked with PostgreSQL or other relational data bases
- Search engine technology e.g. Elasticsearch
- Caching solutions, preferably Redis and Guava
- Frameworks like Vert.x, Spring boot and Node.js
