We are looking for a smart, driven, and technical CTO to lead our engineering team and help us deliver on our vision – becoming the most trustworthy online health company in the world.

Our mission

Diet Doctor was founded by Andreas Eenfeldt (M.D.) with the long-term goal of empowering people everywhere to dramatically improve their health. More than one billion people suffer from health issues related to type 2 diabetes and obesity, for which they're often personally blamed and rarely given the support they deserve. We aim to change that.

We’re fully funded by our members, so we don't need to show any ads, sell any products, or take any industry money. This also means that we have zero external investors, and are instead owned by the 40+ people who work here – and we offer all employees the possibility to buy a stake in the company regularly.

What have we achieved so far?

• About 5 million monthly visits, 65k paying members and 40+ full-time co-workers.
• The by far largest keto and low-carb site in the world.
• Profitability for years, self-funded, no VC investment - strong financial position.

What you'll do

Our engineering team is headed by an excellent software engineer who manages the team and builds a significant part of our software. As the team is growing fast it’s no longer possible to do both of these things. 

To ensure we build the right team and tech platform, we are looking for someone who can spend 100% of their time on building a world-class tech team, meaning:

• Lead and grow our 10-people, fast-growing, engineering team that is packed with smart, passionate, and focused senior engineers. This includes managing the big-picture tech-plan, set team goals, design and effectively implement processes that help the engineering team work efficiently, do 1-1s, run meetings  - all together with the engineering team).
• Lead tech recruiting. This includes identifying the roles we need, work with recruiters and the team to attract and find great candidates, sell the company, design and implement candidate-evaluation process etc.
• Manage key technical projects. This includes ensuring all technical work is planned and followed up on in a simple yet structured manner.

Who you are

• A track record of building and managing great engineering teams in a startup environment.
• Smart, driven, and hard working. 
• Experience building and shipping products using modern cloud technologies.
• Strong experience with agile approaches to engineering. 
• Strong technical understanding with significant experience as a software engineer.
• Practical and humble. You identify what needs to be done and do it - you're not too big for any task.

• Strong desire to do something meaningful.
• Thrives in a fast-paced and unstructured environment.
