What’s it about?

Together with the team you’ll work on both new features and maintenance, to continuously modernise the app - with millions of users. We work in Java, Kotlin and strive to write maintainable, clear code that is testable, and we use continuous integration and code reviews to ensure we get it right.

Our apps have undergone many design and technical revisions. When we see a new technology or pattern that may benefit our apps and product we don't hesitate to become early adopters and position ourselves ahead of the curve.

The Blocket App Team

We are Blocket's native experts and in charge of our ever growing app. We are a small and ambitious team home to both Android and iOS developers. Our app has amassed around 275 000 users for every developer on the team, which means your work will definitely not go unnoticed. We encourage mob and pair programming and tight collaboration, and since we still haven't agreed on which platform to label "the dark side" yet, your input here could be the decider!

Developing a product like Blocket is truly a team effort and caring for each other is one of our core values. We are looking for positive people who share our purpose of a sustainable future and enjoy collaboration - we always go the extra mile to support our peers!

Who are you?

We believe you are a seasoned developer with at least 3 years hands-on experience of Android development. You are able to independently lead the development of new features, and enjoy discussing and debating code and solutions with your peers. You like sharing your knowledge with your team and junior developers and above all, you are curious and continuously strive to learn new things.**

The Blocket journey began in Skåne 1996 - since then the concept of Blocket has been exported to over 40 other countries. Today, Blocket, which is owned by the media group Schibsted, is Sweden’s largest online marketplace. There are approximately 600 000 items, vehicles, jobs and housing being advertised and discovered by its 5 million visitors every week. The value for all advertisements in 2018 amounted to SEK 714 billion - equal to 15 percent of Sweden’s GDP. Thanks to second-hand trading at Blocket, 0.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases can be avoided every year. The output being equivalent to if Stockholm’s city roads stood empty for about a year. Blocket has approximately 240 colleagues and the office is located in central Stockholm.
