What’s in it for you?
The work will be carried out within Propulsion Strategy and Innovation, which is a part of VCC´s Product Creation and Quality (R&D) organization.
The department is responsible for leading and analysing concepts and solutions for the propulsion systems including: traction batteries, electric motors, power electronics, transmissions and charging systems in the future Volvo Car vehicles. Propulsion System Technology is a section with engaged architects and technical experts that are dedicated to develop the future competitive world class sustainable future transport solutions.

What you’ll do
The role consists of leading, planning and implementing new software features and enablers for propulsion together with the agile release trains. The role consists of leading/supporting and coordinating architectural aspects of software integration in the propulsion system into a new Core System, the existing nodes and the Volvo Cars Cloud or coordinating and hosting services outside Volvo Cars. The role will focus on software related to the electrical drivetrain such as the battery and inverters, charging functionality, connectivity, continuous integration. It will consider aspects of automated test/validation together with over the air updates, reducing complexity of the software and balancing of new content in vehicle programs versus maintenance and cost. The strategical aspect will balance and analyse inhouse developed software versus bought software. The role requires analytical skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate with several different roles in the company. You should be able to implement and show proof of concepts related to different solutions in C/C++, Matlab Simulink or Python. The role also consists of coordinating and planning our feature rollout plan, prioritizing content in time together with the Solution Managers and Solution Architects in our two Product Streams and create solutions considering system safety aspects, security/privacy, scalability and cost.

Do you fit the profile?
The profile should be eager to learn new things with experience in electronics or embedded software development or backend software development
Knowledge about system safety and other aspects of software creation, software quality or continuous integration is qualifying for the role. Knowledge about cloud infrastructure and enterprise systems is also meritorious.
As a person you should be structured with analytical skills and solution oriented.  Driver license B is mandatory. You shall handle English fluently, both in speech and writing.
MSc. within automation or mechatronics, software engineering, engineering physics or electrical engineering is mandatory for the role. Programming languages or knowledge about scripting in Python, Matlab, C/C++ and Java is qualifying for the role.
