Data engineer/scientist at Whywaste - use data to eliminate food waste

We need you to help us eliminate food waste. Seriously.

Food waste is one of the worst environmental issues of our time. Whywaste is a mission-driven food-tech startup that is working on eliminating food waste at retailers. We have developed several data-driven solutions used by the largest food retailers around the world.

We are looking for data engineers and data scientists that are driven by reducing food waste. You will be working closely with our development team (Where a helping hand is always available!). The job will be challenging, but rewarding, as we try to set out to fight one of the world's largest issues. So we want you to have that little extra drive.

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw data: assessing quality, cleansing, structuring for downstream processing
• Design accurate and scalable prediction/classification algorithms.
• Evaluating your own or other's algorithms.
• Collaborate with data-science and development team to bring analytical prototypes to production
• Generate actionable insights for business and- or product improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
• Knowledge of current algorithms and methods in the fields of time series forecasting and computer vision.
• Fluency in Python programming language, and preferably some knowledge in SQL and web programming. Some of the Python libraries we currently use are Django (rest framework), Tensorflow, Pandas, and Plotly.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.
