Technical Designers at DICE understand design processes, technical scripting languages and how to work with other developers. They make sure our developers have the best workflows and tools and support them create new experiences.

As a Technical Designer at DICE, you will work close with coders, game designers, artists and producers across feature teams and reporting to our Studio Technical Design Director.

You will often be the spider in the web, feedback early on designs from a technical point of view and help with getting new technology testable fast.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer. What this means is that you will work within the Frostbite editor producing the core of new advanced technologies together with coders and designers for them to build upon. Being the designers first contact for technical support and coaching.

Things we like to see at DICE

  • A love for playing and making games.
  • 4 years or more of professional game development experience with technical design direction.
  • Professional experience from game engines and visual scripting languages in engines such as Frostbite, Unreal, Unity or equivalent.
  • Prototyping, and the ability to foresee challenges in ideas before diving into implementation.
  • Willingness to dive into to new technologies and tasks.
  • Willingness to share knowledge throughout the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage technical reviews for design features.
  • Manage implementation of systems, workflows and solutions that can be used by designers.
  • Set best practices and guidelines for content implementation within a project with quality, performance and stability in mind.
  • Coach both new and experienced designers to the engine and scripting standards.

Good to have experience with

  • Multiple game engines and tools.
  • Experience developing multiplayer games.
  • Have some understanding of programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Python and similar).
