Senior cloud back-end developer

About this role

We are now looking for a senior cloud back-end developer with technical leadership experience. In this role you will be a key player in all development of our cloud-hosted back-end systems, connecting thousands of cameras and real-time video processing units with security operators, support staff and site managers world-wide.

Your work will span all parts of our back-end infrastructure, including intra-service communication, load balancing, APIs, databases, automated update distribution and services for configuration, management and monitoring of our video analytics product. You will work closely together with machine learning researches, front-end developers, UX designers, software testers and support staff, making sure that our back-end systems meet the requirements of all stakeholders. Your work will touch all aspects of software development, from including understanding customer requirements, architectural design, implementation and testing. As a senior developer, we expect you to take on full technical responsibility of selected larger components of our system, developing and maintaining long-term technical roadmaps and strategies, and making sure that your components are stable, coherent, high-performing, scalable and well-integrated in our complete product.

Our R&D department consists of tight agile teams, where most people contribute in several aspects of the system. We base our culture on freedom and responsibility, and in this role, you will be given extensive freedom to make your own technical decisions as long as you meet our high requirements and handle this freedom in a responsible way. You will be located at our main office in Göteborg, as part of a team with a lot of energy and a strong community.

Who we think you are

To be qualified for this role, we require at least 5 years of hands-on development of cloud-hosted software and web application development. We believe that you to have an MSc in software engineering, or equivalent, with the following additional qualifications:

- Extensive experience from performant, dependable and modular cloud-based and distributed systems.
- Extensive experience from database design with high performance requirements.
- Extensive experience from .NET development in the Microsoft Azure eco-system.
- Experience from containerization using Docker, Kubernetes or similar.
- Great insight in how large-scale web applications work as a whole, including the interplay between databases, back-end services, REST APIs and front-ends using modern web technologies like React or Angular.

- Great understanding of the challenges involved in scaling up a cloud-hosted multi-tenant system to a global scale with high requirements on availability and responsiveness.
- Great understanding of IT security aspects of large-scale web systems, including strategies for encryption and user authentication.
- Good communication and organization skills and great personal initiative and drive, with an ability to understand the requirements of different stakeholders, keeping things organized, and making things happen.

Great skills in the English language is a requirement and good Swedish skills is an advantage.
