SVT is one of Sweden’s strongest brands, with products that affect and that are appreciated by many people. They are now looking for an Android Developer to the mobile team developing SVT Play. Here you will be working in the midst of the transformation from traditional television to the future of media consumption!

SVT is the Swedish national public television broadcaster. Their vision is to contribute to a more inquisitive and informed Sweden. They aim to create content that engages, entertains and enriches - in the service of the public. From Bolibompa for the smallest to cultural experiences, Melodifestivalen and sports broadcasts that make the Swedes hold their breath. Today, it is estimated that 9 out of 10 Swedes use SVT each week, where more and more people use digital services such as SVT Play and the mobile app. They are proud to deliver products that deliver news and entertainment to millions of people. The opportunity
As an Android Developer you will be part of the mobile team developing SVT Play. Every month, millions of people choose to use SVT Play when they want to watch TV series or programs they are curious about – or just stay up-to-date with the latest news. The team consists of Android and iOS Developers, QA, UX, AD, PO and an analyst. Working within Public Service means that the focus is not primarily on generating revenue, but SVT’s goal is to improve the experience for their users. You will have a central role in this work, and you will have the freedom to take your own initiatives within your domain. You will get to work with a wide range of challenging tasks; from UI to Backend development using modern technologies like Kotlin and GraphQL, from building pipelines to testing.

The missing piece of the puzzle
You are a passionate Android Developer, familiar with Java and/or Kotlin. You think it will be awesome to be part of a team that values discussions, having fun and that are dedicated to creating a world-class product!
You are curious, unpretentious and love solving problems. You probably share the team’s passion for tech and like to share your knowledge with others. Experience of writing UI and Unit tests and A/B testing and that you are familiar with XML, MVVM, Jetpack libraries and Android APIs will come in useful but is not critical. The most important thing however, is that you are eager to learn!
