Description

The Client has a legacy platform called Information Service Platform (ISP) where currently around 50 services are deployed. The services are mainly implemented using JBoss EAP and A-MQ, and includes small services (roughly 1000 lines of code) as well as bigger applications (over 50 000 lines of code).

Most of these services will be migrated to a new platform based on Red Hat OpenShift. The migration will include upgrade to a supported EAP (most of the services currently use EAP 6.x). The developer is expected to document the procedure of migrating the services (in a cook book) to make subsequent migrations more efficient.

The assignment includes:

- Migrating appointed service(s) to new OpenShift platform.
- Upgrading to supported EAP (if necessary).
- Making design/implementation related decisions grounded in best practices.
- Mentoring and supporting more junior developers.
- Since several subsequent migrations will be performed it is expected that this developer will be able to pave the path and independently drive the first migration.

Mandatory competence and experience:

- Java / J2EE including technologies like EJB, Hibernate, SOAP/RESTful services
- Application server, preferably JBoss EAP
- Message brokers, preferably JBoss A-MQ
- Container technology: Docker & Kubernetes (preferably OpenShift 4.x)
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Experience in agile software development, preferably Scrum or SAFe
- Able to work independently and to drive design/implementation related decisions
- Need to be senior enough to take a mentoring role within the development team and guide the less senior resources in the migration work.
