We are looking for a Data Engineer for fixed-term or freelance opportunity with one of our clients. Please note that we are unable to arrange work permits for fixed-term or freelance positions.

The assignment

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the company’s data warehouse. In that role you will be closely collaborating with the operations and marketing team, while also having touch points with all other departments. Moreover, you will work closely with their data scientist on further developing the existing data science architecture. Here, reliability and scalability of the data warehouse, the backbone of our architecture, is the main focus.

Key responsibilities

- Be responsible for ETL processes to and from our data warehouse.
- Optimize ETL processes and storage in terms of reliability, speed, and cost.
- Identify and resolve weaknesses and errors in the current infrastructure and data architecture.
- Develop base tables for business intelligence and data science.
- Improve and develop data pipelines to third party APIs.
- Develop new features in the data engineering realm, i.e. streaming data to warehouse, develop CI/CD pipeline for data science/engineering code.

Essential (must have) skills, knowledge and experience

- Eligible to work in Sweden
- English language proficiency
- A university graduate in computer science, mathematics, physics or any other quantitative field
- Knowledgeable of ETL processes and data warehouses, i.e. AWS Redshift, GCP Big Query, etc
- Experienced with working in a cloud based environment, such as AWS or Microsoft Azure
- Competent in working with ETL tools, i.e. Matillion, Airflow, etc
- Trained in understanding and writing complex SQL queries
- Sensitive for data privacy concerns and GDPR compliance
- A solid programmer in i.e. Python, Scala, Java, etc
- A team player and communicative person. Someone who reaches out when necessary and is not afraid to raise concerns
- An organised colleague, who enjoys taking responsibility and independently identifies problems and potentials

Qualifying skills, knowledge and experience

- Have experience with marketing automation and campaign management tools
- Worked with machine learning, specifically the data engineering requirements
- Possess knowledge or experience in the telco industry

Additional information

Start: ASAP

Duration: 5 months + extension

Workload: 80%-100% during 2020, decreasing to 50% thereafter.
