What we offer
The Electric Propulsion Software department at Volvo Cars is proud of being one of the most successful players within SW development for Electric Vehicles. We enable the transition to electric propulsion of our vehicles and contribute to Volvo Cars vision to give our customers freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way.

At the department we deliver all controls software for our electrified powertrains (inverter, battery, charger, DC/DC converter). Most of the software that is customer relevant is today made in-house. We are currently taking next step, moving also the development of key software components of the traction battery management system and the integration of those in-house!

Traction batteries are complex systems containing hundreds of battery cells together with a thermal conditioning system. In order to operate the battery optimally, it is important to know internal parameters of the battery cells, such as charge level, and available energy and power. Many of these are, however, not directly measurable by sensors and must thus be estimated. Still there are many sensors, ports and signals to take care of from the HW.
