Load Impact builds next-generation performance testing tools for developers and DevOps engineers.

We are pushing forward the state of the art in our industry, creating open-source tools that have great developer experience and enable engineers to build reliable systems.

k6 is an open-source tool that we built to reinvent the engineering principles around performance testing and enable engineers to build systems that scale.

We have a flat organization, composed almost exclusively of engineers. As a Software Engineer, you will work in a small team and have the ability to switch your role to DevOps, frontend or backend to keep things interesting. Load Impact is growing, and we encourage our engineers to grow with the company and learn new technologies as the company expands. This is not a job where you do the same thing every day.

Due to our small teams and fast development pace, you will have a substantial and immediate impact on how the end product is architected, developed, and how the engineering team operates. Most importantly, you will work with competent colleagues and will be able to expand your knowledge and skills in different directions.

Our stack today consists of:

  • Python microservices (Django and Flask)
  • Some Go and node.js services
  • docker/ECS for container orchestration
  • Celery and RabbitMQ for data processing
  • Postgres and Timescaledb for data storage
  • React/Redux on the frontend side (not released yet)
  • Multi-region AWS infrastructure

We spawn and kill more than 2000 servers every day. Our production database is about 10TB in size. We engineer stuff at scale, and through k6 we enable our users to do the same.

Expected skills and requirements:

  • Best in class software engineer, or on your way there
  • Understand the ins-and-outs of HTTP and REST
  • Fluent in Python or Golang
  • Passion for quality code
  • Experience with microservice architecture / cloud-native

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Django or Flask
  • Timescaledb or other time-series databases
  • Celery and RabbitMQ
  • Distributed systems
  • AWS / Cloud APIs
  • Docker and CI/CD workflow - ours is based on Github and CircleCI

This position is for the office in Stockholm, Sweden.

About Load Impact

Load Impact is the world’s most widely used online load testing service, with over 100,000 users from 190+ countries and over 3 million executed load tests!

We are a small company but very experienced in developing applications for performance testing and monitoring. We started out as a software development consulting company way back in 2000, developing performance test and measurement software for customers such as Nasdaq and the European Space Agency. We built both, low-level networking software and high-level web user interfaces and became quite good. At Load Impact, we pride ourselves on understanding the lower levels of networked applications while at the same time realizing the importance of UX. In 2009 we launched loadimpact.com, and subsequently k6.io, becoming a product company rather than a consulting company, and we have never looked back.
