We take our concept of Transparent Banking very seriously and our public API is a key part of practicing what we preach.

The brand new team will be dedicated to working with that API.

In brief
Nordnet IT is divided into Operations and Development. Development consists of six development “pipes” and one platform team. The pipes are independent, product oriented, agile, full stack teams including Product Owners, Scrum Masters (but we call them Pipe Masters), Hackers, QA and Application Support. The pipes' task is to take ideas to launch.

We strive to make each pipe a fully autonomous team with a high sense of purpose.  We aren’t quite there yet but we are working on it. Our developers work in Windows, Mac or Linux. Our test and production environments are Red Hat Linux.

Our API
We are the only savings bank in the Nordics with a fully functioning public API. Have a look at Shareville.se – all of Shareville’s features run off our API and now we want to take things even further.

Our API is central to our future, internally and externally. What Amazon did for server virtualization we want to do for complexity in the financial industry. It is about time someone democratizes the FinTech space.

Open Source
As a company with hardcore Linux roots we have always been big fans of open source software. After using it for many years, we finally have an opportunity to give back to the community.  Our current open source offering kinda sucks but you might be able to change that.

So, what are we looking for?
To take the next leap in disclosing the moldy secrets of Nordic banking, we need a pipe solely concentrating on opening up our platform so Nordnet can offer an easily accessible and super efficient financial hub. In practice, the pipe’s responsibilities will embrace:

• Publishing relevant backend services created by our business pipes
• SW development and support for internal and external users
• Tech strategy, evolution and development for our API in collaboration with Nordnet’s platform team
• Maintaining, supporting and developing our public development site
• Care for documentation, guidance and certification
• Developer evangelism

Our API in its’ current shape, is written in Erlang. And there is a somewhat punky dev-site for it today (api.test.nordnet.se), in other words, you won’t start completely from scratch.

Composition
We think that the API pipe needs a crowd including:

• A Product Owner (coder gone manager personality type)
• One fullstack, Code Agnostic Hacker to lead the dev team (who in the best of worlds already knows Erlang)
• One Erlang Developer
• One Application Support Engineer (operation)
• One QA
• One Developer Relations-role who can handle day to day business with external devs, keep fora up to date, service status communication, e.t.c.
