Our Exciting Opportunity

Are you a great teammate? Do you take pride in well-crafted software? Are you prepared to excel in a technical, results-oriented environment? If yes, we have a fantastic opportunity for you!

The organization you will work in is called Baseband Infrastructure (BBI). BBI provides the Software Development Kit (SDK) to all Ericsson Radio Access Baseband applications 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. The SDK consists of operating system libraries (kernel, boot loader, communication and observability services), a tools' suite (code editor, debugger, compiler, build system, test framework and trace functions), and a concurrent programming model tailored to the Ericsson Many Core Architecture (EMCA) hardware.

EMCA-Trace is an internal tool for real time trace analysis and visualization. The tool is implemented as an Eclipse plugin and is based on Trace Compass, an industry leading open-source framework for trace visualization. EMCA-Trace helps baseband developers gain insights into the execution of applications on the EMCA, debug crashes, and identify performance bottlenecks. Dealing with large traces efficiently is a particularly challenging task that requires the use of techniques such as stream processing.

We are looking for a SW Developer with experience in full stack development to join the team that works on the EMCA-Trace tool. The ideal candidate for this job:

  • Cares about well-crafted software.
  • Is a curious and enthusiastic learner who strives continuously to become a better, more versatile SW Developer.
  • Works relentlessly and systematically to find efficient solutions to the most challenging problems.
  • Has an eye for insecure code and can propose and drive code quality improvements.

Your colleagues in the EMCA-Trace team:

  • Use agile principles in planning and delivering work items.
  • Relish challenges and assume full ownership of their tasks.
  • Are big time fans of open-source.
  • Use Ericsson’s core values – respect, integrity and perseverance – in informing their work style.
  • Have a whole lot of fun at work!

As a BBI SW Developer you will

  • Contribute to the maintenance and feature development of BBI software, with a focus on trace technology customized to the EMCA.
  • Be part of a multi-functional team that delivers features in all parts of the stack – from low-level hardware-facing code all the way up to a browser-based UI. The software you write must meet performance, functionality, code quality and schedule requirements.
  • Work in a self-managed scrum team, frequently interacting with other teams from Sweden, USA and Canada.
  • Work with open-source contributors and possibly contribute to open-source projects.

To be successful in this role, you need

  • At least 2 years of experience writing software in an object oriented programming language.
  • A Master´s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

You are at an advantage if you have

  • 5+ years of experience using Java as your primary development language.
  • Familiarity with trace formats and technology e.g. CTF, LTTNG, Babeltrace.
  • Data visualization software development experience.
  • Worked as an embedded systems developer.
  • Knowledge of multi-core software design.
  • Developed Eclipse plugins.
  • UI (User Interface) development experience.
  • Written software in Python.
  • Worked with the Maven build system.
  • Used Git as a version control system.
  • Worked with Jenkins-based CI flows.
  • Worked in a scrum team or used other Agile methodologies
