We are now looking for a Junior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Lab team at our office in Stockholm.

What is Hive Labs?

The Labs team furthers Hive’s tech capabilities in the core business areas: Optimization, Operations and Analytics. This is achieved internally by developing PoCs, doing in-depth investigations and externally by working on strategic technology with our partners and customers.

The Labs team supports the organization by picking up innovation and initiatives across the product lines while keeping an eye on outside market and research trends. The team has two focus tracks; Video and Networking Systems and Machine Learning.

Today, we have over 25 nationalities among our 75 co-workers around the globe. You will be the third Support Engineer in the Support EMEA team in Stockholm. You will be the third out of four members of the Labs team. You will be working closely with your team member Stefanos Antaris, who will also be your closest mentor, and with the Team Lead, Mikael Högqvist Tabor, and another Junior Engineer who will start in the role, around the same time as you. Working as a Junior Machine Learning Engineer

In the Labs team at Hive, you will improve the Hive’s current products by employing the latest Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques. Instead of simply applying existing approaches in the company’s data, you will identify their limits and work on novel solutions to fulfill the customers’ needs. You will work closely with your mentor and team member Stefanos, but also with Team Leads and VP in different product lines and engineering teams at Hive. Your focus would be on Machine Learning on our product lines, while driving innovation on new products if we find something interesting. While you will not be forced to invent new algorithms, you are free to explore – if the current is not working and you have a great idea, go for it!

You will…

• Apply machine learning to analyze and solve real-world problems across our e-commerce, warehouse and distribution domains
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to help identify, define and explore data science opportunities
• Support and drive initiatives across our domains by discovering data insights and helping the team make data-driven decision
• Work closely with data engineers to create, launch and maintain machine learning models in production

Previous Experience

• BSc/MSc/Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (such as computer science, math, statistics, engineering, etc)
• Preferably a couple of years of relevant experience working for a technology company
• Experience in building systems for model training and serving using e.g. TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch
• Fluency in related programming languages such as Python, R and SQL
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, designers to design and run experiments, including designing and evaluating new algorithms as well as implementing known algorithms, from either work or master-thesis
• Experience from cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure
• You have a critical mindset, in terms of when we should apply ML or not, what type of algorithms, cases we need to solve and what approach we should have
• Strong analytical thinking and communication skills

It would be a big plus if you also have a track record of successfully launching machine learning models with improved business results or if have some knowledge of container-based architectures and microservices
