What’s in it for you?
Looking for a creative and fun summer internship? Together, we will work towards making the future Autonomous and Connected with human centric technology. Autonomous cars will reshape the traveling and the future lifestyle, would you like to be a part of our team influencing this change?
We are looking for a driven and motivated person interested in pursuing summer internship within the development of self-driving, fully electrical cars during the summer term of 2021.
We imagine that our friends, families, and children are transported in a personal, sustainable and safe way. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo Car. But the current platform makes it impossible for us to have the control that we need to succeed. The overall technical threshold is that the +140 electric components in the car do not communicate in the way that we want it to. Therefore, we build a new platform. The heart of the platform will be a core computer with the capacity to carry a vast majority of electric control units and applications- a vehicle control unit. In our part of the R&D we code the base software on the computer to refine computational power and to enable successful integration with applications.  The future vehicle with a core computer-in-the-car-architecture- will enable advanced connectivity, machine learning and autonomous drive. But we are not yet there.
This is a computer built into the Volvo car that will transport ourselves and our families around. Quality code is therefore fundamental for us and one way to achieve this is focusing on Continuous Integration and visualization of our product performance.
What you´ll do?
You will work with software development to enable visualization of Continuous Integration flow and Product performance.
The summer internship will focus on development of tools and setting up dashboards for visualization of various data to ensure each developer easily can see and understand the progress and status of the product they develop. You will gain insights on the data driven development approach towards a Core computer in the next generation Volvo cars and interact with the latest technology in this area. You will be part of a passionate and agile team. The team works in all phases from research and conceptual evaluation to development and deployment in cars.
Do you fit the profile?
We are looking for candidates with excellent academic records who are open, innovative, driven and team players. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of our work, we are extending our search to a broad range of competences.
The internship will be suitable for candidates with a software development background. It is required that you have knowledge in Python programming language, Linux shell script (bash) and how to communicate with WEB services through RESTful APIs. You are most likely a person with a big interest of programming and spend your spare time with programming projects. Knowledge in the following areas and tools are meritorious: Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Jira, C/C++, Grafana, Splunk.
If you want to join and help us in our journey to deliver a safe, human-centric, autonomous drive technology, read below on how to apply.
