VP Engineering/CTO

Lifesum is a Stockholm-based digital health startup that wants to make people healthier and happier by helping users to forge good habits on their journey towards a better lifestyle, as well as an improved overall quality of life. Having already achieved over 10 million members across Europe, the US and Asia. The Lifesum app is available on Android and iOS, and was a global launch partner for the Apple Watch. Lifesum employs 40 people in Stockholm, Sweden.

The mission of the technology team is to develop the Lifesum service together with product, design, sales and marketing. We use technology to create great user experiences on iOS and Android, but also strive to be early to release on new platforms (including being a launch partner for Apple Watch and being a launch partner for Google Now v2).

Your skills, experience and attitude are more important than your formal education, but we think you have a Master in Computer Science and experience from working in building product and services in a growing organization. We believe you’re currently responsible for multiple development teams as a Director of Engineering, VP Engineering or CTO.

Depending on your experience and skillset, we see you joining as either a VP Engineering or CTO. We believe you’re a highly motivated person that is as skilled in developing individuals and teams as you are in technical architecture and software engineering.

The technology department is a key part of Lifesum and today consists of 15 people across mobile engineering, platform engineering and technical operations. Over the next year the team will grow significantly.

Responsibilities

• Technology development (drive technical vision and architectural strategy, hands-on leadership in exploration of new technologies, lead technical product development including but not limited to data collection, data infrastructure and personalization)
• Overall responsibility for the tech organization (culture, process, staff and team development, coaching, recruitment, technical vision and technical roadmap)
• Recruitment of engineers (attracting, interviewing and closing exceptional candidates, external presentations)

Requirements

• Strong tech knowledge
• Experience of backend development (required), mobile application development (positive) and operations of online services (positive)
• Experience of parts of our technical stack: Amazon Web Services, MySQL, Python/Django, Java, Objective-C
• Management experience (4+ years)

• Scalability knowledge and experience
• Strong communicator and excellent English
• Minimum a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from a top university
• Interest in health and fitness
