2021 Summer Internship - European Market Systems Risk Developer Intern

The Nasdaq Internship Program provides successful candidates with a unique opportunity to experience a challenging and immersive 10-week internship. As participants of our Internship Program, you will deliver real, impactful work within a business unit. You will get a chance to work on a project along with a mentor, network with senior colleagues, and present your project towards the end of the program. You will also participate in learning and development sessions with diverse topics to help you grow and succeed as you establish your career.

Our Team

The European Market Systems Genium INET team is a cross-functional team consisting of software developers, QA engineers and business analysts. The team is responsible for the development and support of the derivatives trading and clearing platform used by our European exchanges. The risk part of the team supports the risk Management module of the Clearing system, measuring different types of financial risks for the markets and securities where trading occurs, by utilizing data from both internal and external sources. Furthermore, the team designs new complex functionality and maintains the existing codebase in an environment with large volumes of data and demands for high availability.

Your Role

Support existing features and develop new ones related to the risk module of the system, developed in Java and run on a Linux platform.

The Ideal Candidate

Is working on completing a degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science, Engineering Physics (graduating by 2022)

Has experience in programming, preferably in Java

Has interest in the FinTech industry, preferably within the financial risk/financial mathematics area

Has strong analytical skills

Has a strong inner drive and motivation, thriving in a high pace environment

Experience in the following will be an advantage: GIT, Unix/Linux, and Jira

Has experience or interest in Cloud technologies such as Kubernetes

Project Overview

Development of one risk related feature in our clearing system, related to the replacement of end user developed software with corresponding ones residing within the risk management module.
