Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

We imagine that our friends, families, and children are transported in a personal, sustainable and safe way. What we build is a self-driving, fully electric, connected, and super safe Volvo Car.
Now, we are looking for a member to join our team and contribute to our vision by changing how we see software development, testing, verification and validation of autonomous drive using simulations.

Who we are
We design, develop, test and maintain virtual verification tools to enable Safe Vehicle Automation. We focus our efforts in large-scale cluster simulations; developing and improving our tools incrementally with high focus on modularity, performance and usability
Our challenge is to balance simulation realism with time constraints, providing as much scenario and test case variation through the software under test in a fast and automated feedback loop to the users. Our empowered team has full ownership of our tools and roadmap – exploring, learning, deciding and delivering as we go, pushing the boundaries of state-of-the-art simulations and software testing in our field.

What you will do
You will be a developer in our agile team focusing specifically on simulation tools for Active Safety and Autonomous Drive functions. As a developer in our team you will experience challenges both in the domain of Autonomous Drive as well as technical challenges in how to create Software-in-the-Loop environments supporting it. You will collaborate closely with your team members, other SIL/HIL/DevOps teams as well as users and stakeholders both internally at Volvo Cars and external suppliers.

Who you are
We expect you to come with experience and passion within the areas of Software Development, Software Testing or Simulations. We’re not looking for you to be an expert in every domain and technology involved, but a solid understanding, experience and a mindset to develop and learn every day is a good start
As a developer in our team, the minimum qualifications include
* MSc in relevant fields, e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Mechatronics, Automation or similar
* Programming skills in high level programming languages C++ and Python

If you are experienced working with or developing other simulation tools for Autonomous Drive it is a huge plus, but not requirement. Other meritorious skills and experiences could also be
* Collaborative software development tools and practices (git, gerrit, Jenkins, zuul, CMake, DevOps, Test Driven Development, XP)
* Containerization (Docker, Singularity)
* Linux environments (Ubuntu, SLES)
* Cluster computing (HPC)
* Open tools and standards (googletest, pytest, FMU, protobuf, OpenSCENARIO, OpenDRIVE, Open Simulation Interface)
* Game engines (Unity, Unreal)
* Virtual reality (AR, VR)
* Tools for verification & validation of Autonomous Drive

It is important to us that you enjoy and thrive working together as a team, to learn, innovate and getting things done. We are excited to have you join us in our journey taking virtual verification and software development to the next level – what are you waiting for?
