Solution Architect – Data Center to Sandvik Materials Technology

SMT have today a very complex application landscape with a mix of modern and old applications hosted both in our on-prem Data Center in Sandviken and in Azure. There are also smaller Data Centers in our production facilities around the globe.
SMT have a cloud first strategy and will in the long-term move as much as possible to cloud.

As a Solution architect you bridge the gap between business and technology, with the focus on the technical decisions and how they support the business.
You will provide expertise and technical guidance to various stakeholders and you are together with our partners in the area responsible for the technical design and architecture of both cloud and on-premise Data Center services.
For the on-prem Data Center in Sandviken, operations will be taken over by a 3rd party supplier during 2021.

What you will do:

• Map business requirements into technology solutions through interaction with business, IT stakeholders, vendors and industry   experts with the aim to create a solution design.
• Ensure that designed solutions are successfully implemented by supporting the project teams to confirm that applications,services and technologies are successfully developed and delivered as maintainable finished solutions.
• Review the current technology architecture landscape and seek ways to leverage, improve and/or extend corporate technology investments.
• Conduct research on new and emerging technology and how it can be applied to best support the business.
• Collaborating and supporting partners and architects in the area.

You are expected to hold a university degree in IT or similar work experience and have previous experience in the Data Center area.
You should be able to manage multiple stakeholders with different maturity and requirements. You are also expected to be collaborative, thinking strategic but also utilize existing capabilities internally and externally to take us to the new target operating model in the new company. You are self-organized, structured, have good communication and social skills. Have good Swedish and English skills, verbal and written. Some travel and willingness to adjust working hours is needed.

• Minimum of 5 plus years of experience in solution architect role, preferably in Data Center area
• Experience with multivendor global environments and in architecting large-scale solutions.
• Understanding of the unique requirements of the use of private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud.
• Good experience of compute, storage, backup and data center technologies both cloud and on-prem and emerging trends.
• Knowledge of key technology stacks, such as VMWare, Azure, AWS and Docker
• Basic understanding of networking technologies and emerging trends
• Experience of application platforms services as SQL, Apache, iiS, load balancing
• Architectural framework certified (e.g. TOGAF, Zachmann, etc) is an   advantage.
• Understanding of ITIL framework
