What you will be doing

As a backend developer in the Internal/Core team you will develop and maintain supporting services used by all tech teams, and beyond. From improving our internationalisation capabilities to heavy number crunching in a haste (which as you know takes more than a smile). We build and evolve our libraries and services with strict semantic versioning in mind and take pride in the elegance of simplicity. You will be working with a smaller smorgasbord of technologies though together we can always evaluate the right tool for the job. This team values stability and simplicity over all else and ideally you do too.

Who you are

At Instabox we value individuals who are keen to learn, have above entry level previous experience. Maybe you are the person who enjoys tinkering with personal projects, or maybe you’re entrenched as an open source contributor, or maybe neither but just love to code. You don’t shy away from communicating with your co-workers and value getting things done.

We would like you to have:

• 4+ years as a backend developer
• 4+ years with JavaScript/node.js experience
• MongoDB, redis and/or PostgreSQL experience (or equivalent database technologies)
• At least basic understanding of Terraform and Debian/Ubuntu (any Linux distro would apply)
• Git experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Optional, but highly appreciated would be any code to show off your capabilities, be it a personal project, maybe open source contribution or advent of code.
