Performance Engineer

Our performance team play a crucial part in the Klarna success story by ensuring that we stay ahead of our hyper growth and Klarnas friction-less buying experience stay fast, reliable and scalable.

As a performance engineer at Klarna you will be joining a team with high caliber engineers who resolve difficult performance and scalability issues by improving our code base performance and reduce resource consumption and latency.

To succeed in identifying risk and failure modes and provide input into the architecture, scalability and test-ability you will participate in design discussions and planning with development teams that design and build our platforms.

You will analyze requirements and designs to model system behavior and implement benchmarks to provide rapid feedback of the operating characteristics.

You will also provide accurate scoping, clear strategies and milestones for performance tests and design and implement overhead, scalability, stability and stress test using industry standard tools and custom developed software.

Required Qualifications

Experience working in large-scale distributed computing environments
Strong coding and scripting ability (At Klarna we mostly use Java and Ruby)
Expert understanding of the key performance metrics associated with throughput, latency, memory, CPU, disk and network and the ability to debug associated bottlenecks in distributed web and asynchronous environments
Broad experience across performance and load testing system design, tools, monitoring, infrastructure and data management
Experience with relational DBs, NoSQL datastores and caching systems
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, networking topology, routers, switches and network packet sniffers
Experience with web development and web services
Experience with APM software and profiling tools
Experience of implementing performance engineering in a progressive Agile/SOA/Continuous Delivery environment
Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
