What’s in it for you?
Our team is cross-functional, consisting of data analysts, data engineer, and Software Engineers developing product applications, tools and services with direct or indirect connection to our cars. The Data Analysis & Methods and Tools Team supports many teams within Engine Controls & Diagnostics, partly with building and maintained tools used by Control and calibration teams, and partly by offering help with data analysis. Within R&D, the ART Engine Controls & Diagnostics is responsible for combustion engine control and diagnostics software, and its calibration for hybrid powertrains. We lead the development of robust control solutions with significant parts of in-house development. We launch hundreds of variants of production files every year and improve our software development process continuously to deliver high quality. The work we perform has a major impact on product quality and reliability as well as legal compliance. We are looking for a qualified engineer to join our team as Model based Calibration engineer. In this position, you will be responsible for the development of Model Based Optimization Tools and Methods and applying those tools to the design and verification process. 

What you’ll do
You will use current available tools and methods for model-based optimization to set up DoE for engine test bed activities and engine modelling, development of model-based optimization tools and methods and create/modify new/existing test sequences tailored to different requirements. Other tasks are optimization and calibration of engine parameters to reduce emissions and fuel consumption for predominantly Diesel and Petrol engines and evaluation of the results and develop calibration optimization algorithms and techniques for utilization in the delivery of the engine control system operation In this role you will also correlate and validate the models against prototype test data, collaborate with the calibration teams to identify needed use cases and collect data, inspecting data for errors, analysis and reporting as well as collaborate with control and calibration teams to develop required tool sets to support model-based development, and calibration.

Do you fit the profile?
PhD/MSc in Mechanical/Electrical/ Automation Engineering or equivalent 3+ years of experience Model Development, Optimization Methods and Analysis Delivery Excellent skills required in using model simulation packages such as; MATLAB and Simulink or any other similar packages Excellent skills in analytical engineering, signal processing, mathematical and machine learning modelling Good programming and tool development skills preferably in Python Knowledge with powertrain model development is a merit Insight into combustion-, air charge- thermal- or exhaust system control & calibration is a merit Holistic knowledge in diesel and petrol engines, vehicle integration, Drivability, Diagnosis & Dependability, control unit interfaces, Powertrain testing and engine design are a merit Previous experience working with ETAS ASCMO, INCA, SILver and Orion is a plus.

The right candidate is self-driven with excellent communication skills and can work in a fast pace agile environment.
