Data Scientist to SAS AI

SAS is looking for a Data Scientist to join our AI team.

We are embarking on a new journey to transform SAS to an AI-enabled business. We are passionate about leveraging AI and data science to create business value at scale.

We're looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Data Scientist to build awesome machine learning models using cutting edge technology, learn how to integrate it with VA and RPA, and be the catalyst to drive AI to reach its full potential in SAS.

The AI team supports SAS with technologies such as Machine Learning (ML), Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Virtual Agents (VA).

We combine these technologies to find new ways to further improve customer experience and better support our employees.

As a Data Scientist within the AI team you will be an integral part of defining and setting up machine learning best practice and work hands on in the machine learning initiatives.

Extract Business-focused insights using data and work exploratory. Understand how value and information flows in SAS and use that understanding to identify new Business opportunities.

You will also play a key role in achieving our ambition to become a true data driven airline. Daily, you will contribute to cross-functional initiatives with the different SAS divisions, understanding the business pain points, identifying the right approach to resolve it and develop the AI/ML solution.

Main tasks include:

• Work closely with the different divisions within SAS to identify and translate high-level business needs into data science defined goals and propose solutions to derive actionable insights
• Participate in various ideations/analysis/workshops to identify areas where SAS can get benefits using AI
• Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to improve our business
• Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
• Horizon scan to stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods
• Stay curious and enthusiastic about using algorithms to solve problems and enthuse others to see the benefits.
• Collaborate broadly to understand needs and devise possible solutions using data and analytics
• Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers

Experience

• More than 5 years of professional experience
• More than 3 years’ experience within SQL, Python or other coding languages related to data
• Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis
• Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills

Education

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field. Consideration will be given to exceptional candidates without advanced degrees.

Personal skills

• Strong programming skills in e.g. Python, R, SAS, SQL and experience with machine learning packages
• Solid SQL skills (e.g. joins, sub-queries, data transformations) and experience in creating data pipelines
• Excellent knowledge of visualizing data and tell stories around data
• Good understanding of data quality concepts specifically tied to model bias etc.
• Understanding of modern data platforms and machine learning tooling
• Fluency in English and preferably Swedish
• Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies is a plus.

The position will be based at SAS HQ in Frosundavik.
