Backend Developer with PHP

Our vision is to be the leading innovator of commerce for global brands, and over the past couple of years we at Centra have built an innovative SaaS platform serving sophisticated ecommerce functionality to brands.

Centra is very scalable leveraging multiple kinds of caching strategies and serverless at edge to deliver super scalable API endpoints that are hard to kill.

We’re looking for a Backend Developer to join our team in Stockholm. At Centra, we want a person with a good skillset and an eagerness to learn together and solve problems as a team. We work hard, and we care a lot about what we do, but we don’t expect our team to break their backs. We got where we are because we hire and work with humans, and that’s what we want to continue to do as we expand the company.

English is our working language, so you need to be a fluent English speaker.

We are looking for developers who want to:

- Think holistically about delivering value by helping us improve all layers of our stack
- Refactor, modernize and improve our extensive existing code base and architecture
- Develop entirely new products and features (we have very big plans!)
- Help evolve our technology, methodologies, tools and best practices
- Actively participate in planning, design, implementation and delivery mission-critical ecommerce for some of the hottest brands out there
- Produce and maintain a clean, well-tested, high quality and standard-compliant code
- Participate in and help evolve our agile development process
- Stay current in their fields through researching new technologies, side projects, and/or participation in developer communities, etc.

- Node.js, serverless (Lambda and Cloudflare workers)
- React, Redux (TypeScript)
- MariaDB / MySQL, Nginx, Ubuntu
- ElasticSearch, Redis
- AWS and Digital Ocean
- Git and Github
- GraphQL and REST APIs

Some particular experience we're interested in:

- Team-based software development
- High performance systems and optimizations
- Relational database design
- ElasticSearch and Redis
