Tasks and responsibilities:

As Head of Design, you are a shaper of our culture, an ambassador for the connection between technology and design and an integral part of our talented and close-knit team. You are cross-functional in your role, collaborating in client projects, growing and developing the design team, as well as our company strategy.
Your responsibilities include:
• Guiding our group of designers as well as our entire approach to the design discipline. You will be mentoring and nurturing the creative team while challenging and introducing new and innovative methods of creative execution, as well as coaching and developing individual team members by cultivating people’s skills and growth.
• Contributing to the strategic direction of the studio together with the rest of the management team. Which means providing key concepts and brand positioning as well as tactical and strategic direction in our selection of business segments and clients.
• Acting as a thought-leader in the practice of design and innovation and representing Block Zero externally to clients and future team members.
• Being an active spokesperson in the creative design community by being involved in for example teaching and speaking engagements.

Education, Experience and Personal characteristics:

• You have a professional background in design. Probably in UX, but could perhaps also be service design, UI design, interaction design, visual design or similar.
• You have experience of working in design projects from e.g. a product company or an agency, with a variety of clients.
• You have a desire or experience of leading and/or building creative design teams.
• It is a plus if you have an established network with other design leaders and professionals.
• You are proficient in English, in writing and speach

Our need for you to be an active leader in the design community requires you to stay updated with the latest thinking. To fit into the role of Head of Design you also must be communicative and intellectually curious. Since you will manage a team of four designers, you are an empathic and trust-building leader.
