DevOps - Developer

With a global user base of over 380 million, Opera is an international internet company that has expanded into product areas beyond our popular browsers. Our product portfolio includes web browsers, fin-tech solutions, news aggregation services, as well as data compression and privacy software. We are investing heavily in our fin-tech offering targeting Europe with launches expected this and next year.

Opera Sweden is looking for an ambitious developer with a passion for technology to join our mobile team in Gothenburg, Sweden. Experimenting with new technology is in our DNA and our mobile team is constantly trying to find better ways to build quality apps. In our current project we have chosen to go with a TypeScript, React Native, Redux stack and invested in continuous integration through Jenkins and test automation using the popular Jest and Detox frameworks. Product quality and iteration speed are crucial to building successful apps and we believe writing tests should be a natural part of the development process.

Your main focus will be:

• Help development team in building CI and CD of the project from scratch
• Build monitoring and reporting for the project from scratch
• Setting up the framework for incident management and recovery
• Help build SDLC framework for the project
• Create release plan with management team and developers
• Manage allocation of cloud resources
• Establishing and advocating DevOps best practices in the team
• Maintain what you’ve built ;)

You will be working in a team of about 10 people with an agile workflow. You will be part of design reviews, sprint planning, weekly sprints, continuous integration and delivery processes. The team is currently working remotely but is centered in Gothenburg. You will be collaborating closely with local developers; backend, product management and design in Estonia and Poland.

We expect You to have:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of recent employment in a DevOps role. Not just freelance work experience. Part of a team of size at least 2.
• Experience with deployment and delivery of web apps, ability to build the infrastructure from scratch
• Familiarity with mainstream CI / CD for web apps: Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Puppet
• Work experience with cloud hosting providers: AWS
• Experience with load balancing and CDN
• Experience with administration of Linux systems
• Currently living in Gothenburg or willing to relocate

An ideal candidate has:

• Fluency in English
• 5+ years of related experience
• Self drive to develop new skills
• Familiarity with front-end tools: Babel, Webpack, NPM, linters, etc
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Graphana, Loki, etc
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
• Close-to-expert knowledge of git
• Experience with python, shell scripting
• Experience with high availability systems
