Junior Data Scientist

About the Team

The Intelligence team comprises an Architecture crew, and three Analytics crews all working closely with Storytel’s various Business functions and our Product Management organization. We deliver reports and ad hoc analysis to support business decisions as well as algorithms aiming to improve our operations and customer experience.

About the Role

As a Junior Data Scientist at Storytel, you will look at data with a mathematical mindset. With a thorough knowledge of machine learning and programming, you will uncover patterns in Storytel's data and make future predictions.

This role will focus on Content Analytics, turning books into insights in order to create the best possible customer experience and support publishing decisions. We are looking for a passionate and committed person to help achieve our goals within this area.

Responsibilities:

- Work on all stages of more general data science projects such as understanding the business problem, collecting data, building mathematical models, and producing insights to be used throughout Storytel
- Perform a range of general tasks including ad hoc data analysis using SQL, building dashboards, or constructing models to support larger projects
- Develop statistical models to categorize and understand our content to support curation and publishing decision-making
- Have a key role in cross-functional projects aimed at understanding how to deliver a personalized experience to our book-loving customers
- Help grow the data-driven culture at Storytel

About You

To be successful in this role we believe that you have;

️ Good communication skills and the ability to translate vaguely-defined business problems into machine learning solutions

️ Hands-on experience using modeling/development software (Python or R or similar)

A master or higher degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science or a similar field

🇧Excellent at writing and speaking English

And for some bonus points:

Experience with NLP libraries is a plus, but definitely not a must

As a truly international company, your direct colleagues from the Intelligence team are based in Stockholm, Barcelona, and Copenhagen. For this position, we are primarily looking for candidates who aim to be based in our Stockholm or Copenhagen offices.
