The Position
Avalanche Studios Group is hiring several Engine Platform Programmers for our central technology organization in Stockholm.

Central Tech is our core technology team and we innovate in areas that push the boundaries for what open world sandbox gaming means - as well as improve, optimize and support our existing core tech.

The award-winning Apex Engine is a highly advanced and complex set of software upon which we build the world's best open-world games. We have a solid reputation for producing fantastic games, and this is a great opportunity if you want to play an instrumental role in developing our Apex Engine.

As an Engine Platform Programmer you will be responsible for developing support for new platforms and maintaining existing ones. This involves adapting the Apex Engine system architecture, graphics devices and various platform-specific considerations. The engine supports PC (including Vulcan) as well as Xbox and Playstation consoles.

You will be a part of a team, responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a diverse range of core engine technologies to support active game development. Working with higher level frameworks for diagnostics and testing, to low level streaming, threading, memory management and platform specific features.

You are pragmatic and results-oriented with the ability to absorb new information and transform it into creative solutions. You also have a sense of urgency and ability to cope with short lead-times. In performing this role you will be able to make a great impact on the value realized from the studios shared technology throughout the game productions.

Required Qualifications

- Excellent programming skills in C/C++
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- At least 5 years of professional AAA game programming experience on consoles such as Xbox or Playstation
- Deep knowledge of console architectures
- Strong knowledge of profiling on consoles and optimizing performance and memory management
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering/computer science or equivalent experience
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken

- Passion for making great games
- Experience with agile development (e.g. Kanban/Scrum)
- Understanding of complex software architectural patterns
- Familiarity with automated software testing and test driven development
