About Normative

At Normative we are creating the norm for carbon accounting by providing intelligence to companies to reduce their climate footprint. We translate financial data into tangible carbon insights, enabling companies to understand and reduce their carbon emission.

What does that mean?

From the office space, heating and basic elements of a workplace, to every single part of business operations and expansion, anytime a company is making financial transactions, we would be able to visualize the climate impact for it thereby making the company sustainable one step at a time.

If you are an experienced backend developer, this is your opportunity to make an impact. We are a remote-friendly international team of 30 (but quickly scaling), working towards contributing to a net-zero world. You will be joining our engineering team of 7 (and growing) and our objective is to help our customers connect their data sources of transactions so we may measure the climate impact and thereby help our clients report and reduce CO2.

About this role

As a backend developer on this team, you will create the developer experience of sustainability intelligence. Users find us on the web and through partner integrations. You will develop developer journeys through the API and work with many services and underlying technologies core to our product. You have an urge to get to solve the actual problems and strive to understand where the customer is coming from.

Who we are looking for

• You know from experience how to evolve extensible web APIs and maintenance best practices
• You enjoy juggling data, to slice and dice, and shuffle it around
• Deep knowledge of design patterns and how to fully use language features
• You leverage your combined experience from at least 2 different backend frameworks and other programming languages

Nice to have

• Expertise in Typescript
• Experience of designing GraphQL schemas
• Visual in communication to sketch out the dependencies in a system

LOCATION: Our HQ is based in Stockholm. You can work remotely from other locations in Sweden but we expect you to be able to meet from time to time and come to Stockholm about once a month (when times allow us to), in a climate-friendly way.
